The book includes two works of the young Klyuchevsky, the first is the graduation essay of the student Klyuchevsky "Tales of foreigners about the Moscow state." The 12 chapters talk about the relationship between Western Europe and Russia and draw a broad canvas of the life of Muscovite Russia for three centuries (XV-XVII centuries). The second is a kind of continuation of "Tales of foreigners" - "Life of the Russian people". This work was forgotten and remained unknown even to specialists for more than 100 years. It is written on Russian sources (chronicles, Russkaya Pravda, Lives of Saints, etc.) and on the author's preparations for the Tales, which were not included in the main text of the work. There are 6 sections in this work: "Food", "Housing", "Clothes", "Utensils", "Weapons", "Exchange of Works" ("Trade and Monetary Business"). Based on the study of Klyuchevsky's drafts, the topics "Games", "Schools" and "Libraries of Russia" were added. .The book is illustrated with drawings and engravings by the authors of the Tales and their contemporaries, drawings from Russian chronicles, geographical maps of the 16th-17th centuries. and paintings by A. M. Vasnetsov, a connoisseur of Moscow antiquity. With this book, we continue the publication of the works of the great historian, which were not included in the collection of his works. This publication is of interest to researchers, teachers of schools and universities, students and the general readership.
