Considering the theory of the rule of law as a modernization strategy allows to accumulate a significant theoretical and comparative potential of classical jurisprudence and political thought, to bring the discussion of the problem to the level of the sociology of law, specific recommendations and technologies for their implementation. In this book, based on both published works and materials from Russian and foreign archives, the reconstruction of Russian constitutionalism in the context of the historical era at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries is carried out, the contribution of its outstanding ideologists (S.A. Muromtseva, N.M. Korkunova, L. .I.Petrazhitsky, P.I.Novgorodtsev, F.F.Kokoshkin, V.M.Gessen, M.Ya.Ostrogorsky, B.A.Kistyakovsky, S.A.Kotlyarevsky) in solving the problems of building a democratic society, an attempt was made to fully include these names and ideas in Russian political life and education, to contribute to the construction of the rule of law in Russia.
