The book is devoted to a previously almost unknown phenomenon - the protest movement of workers in the first decades of the formation of Soviet power. It opens with an analysis of events beginning with Vikzhel's ultimatum to create a "homogeneous socialist government" and culminating with Stalin's industrialization and the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. On the basis of a wide range of previously classified sources, an extensive panorama of mass workers' uprisings in Soviet Russia - the USSR is revealed, their causes, dynamics, forms, and influence on the policy of the ruling regime are analyzed. In the new, revised and expanded edition of the book, some assessments of the trends that determined the workers' protest in 1917–1999 are clarified, possible prospects for the future development of the protest movement in our country are shown, and the documentary supplement is expanded by including archival documents, missing from the first three (stereotypical) editions of the book.
