Many books of the "first generation" of emigration have already been republished in Russia. Much less well known are the works of the "second generation" who grew up in the 1930s and 1950s far from their homeland. The author of this unique book belongs to him.
The son of a soldier of the White Army, later a well-known Russian historian S. G. Pushkarev, Boris PUSHKAREV was born in the Czech Republic. Finished high school in Germany. He completed his education in the USA - at Yale University. Then he became a recognized specialist in urban planning in America and worked in this area for 30 years, publishing a number of books. Having retired, Boris PUSHKAREV has lived most of his time in Moscow since 1992, where he is engaged in social and teaching work.
The book "RUSSIA AND THE EXPERIENCE OF THE WEST" is a collection of his selected articles on ecology, economics, philosophy and politics. They were written for 40 years - mostly in exile - for a reader in Russia. But for obvious reasons, not many of them reached the addressee. Why are these essays interesting? The fact that they are turned to the future of Russia. And the way they correctly predicted the future, which has already come true. It seems that we already know almost everything about the thaw, stagnation, perestroika. But Boris PUSHKAREV writes about this in a way that no one else has ever written, neither the apologists of the communist regime, nor its critics. The book is also unique in its chapters dedicated to the NTS - the People's Labor Union of Russian Solidarists.
