The royal court of France is presented from the point of view of institutional and political history, as a result of a long evolution of various structural divisions of the intracurial or national order, which were formed in the early Middle Ages. Its key functions of an imperious, ceremonial, representative nature, associated with the formation of an absolute monarchy in the 15th-16th centuries, are analyzed. A special place is given to the formation of an independent ladies' court, along with the acquisition of power by the queens of France. The political fate of the Renaissance court during the Religious Wars of 1559-1598 is highlighted. and analyzes the reasons for the collapse of the brilliant court of Valois.
