What is left of the community for us? From what was conceived, desired, meant by the word "community"? Seems like nothing. All his myths are interrupted, his philosophemes are exhausted, and his political forms are condemned. So, you can say: "community" - it was a myth, philosophy, politics, which is one and the same, and it all finally ended. This book is about how, against all odds, there is stubborn resistance from the community. Contrary to the myth, there is an irresistible philosophical and political need to be together. It persistently reminds of itself and we have to open it. From now on, there is no need to create a community (community or communication). We try to talk about what eludes any works, leaving us to show each other. This is communism inscribed in its own unproductivity.
Jean-Luc Nancy (Jean-Luc Nancy; July 26, 1940 - August 23, 2021) is a French philosopher. Author of the theory of community as being-together (être-en-commun). Professor of Philosophy at the University of Strasbourg. From 1989 to 1997 he headed the Faculty of Philosophy, Linguistics, Informatics, Educational Sciences. International Prize of the Italian Nietzsche Society (1990).
