Beautiful Vera Vasilyeva!
In her biographical book, the actress of the Theater of Satire Vera Vasilyeva sincerely shares her thoughts and feelings, thanking fate for many things. While still a student at the theater school, she starred in the film "The Legend of the Siberian Land" and instantly became famous, and then played in the play "Wedding with a Dowry" and shone on the stage. The roles that we managed to play, the artists and directors with whom I had the good fortune to work (among them Andrey Mironov, Anatoly Papanov, Georgy Menglet, Olga Aroseva, Nina Arkhipova, Alexander Shirvindt, Elena Obraztsova, Ivan Pyryev, Erast Garin, Boris Ravenskikh, Valentin Pluchek and others), as well as the love of the audience? "it's all a miracle." Vera Vasilyeva has been on the stage for more than seventy years, never ceasing to amaze with her beauty, grace, youthful enthusiasm and amazing love of life. Today, the actress can be seen in the performances of the Theater of Satire "Talents and Admirers", "Fatal Attraction", "Vera", as well as in the productions of "Once in Paris" (Modern Theater) and "The Queen of Spades" (Maly Theater).

Excerpt from the book:

We had a shared apartment in a two-story house in the yard. Amazing people lived in every room, like the heroes of Yuri Olesha's plays or Zoshchenko's first stories. In one large room lived an old woman, Maria Ionovna, she was probably, as they said then, “one of the former”, in appearance noble, but somehow tortured, with black circles under her eyes. She walked silently, always in some kind of black clothes. She quickly cooked something on a kerosene stove or stove, did not talk about anything with anyone, and immediately disappeared into her dark room. Her two daughters lived with her - Annette and Marusya - probably old maids, just as silent, timid, lonely. They reminded me of mice - they always disappeared so instantly. They never communicated with the apartment children, they never asked about anything, they did not treat them to anything. Their room, with brown wallpaper, thickly curtained windows, and a dim light bulb, looked like some kind of dark slit. In a small room near the kitchen lived their brother Mitya, just as quiet and uncommunicative, also with dark circles under his eyes. Now I regret that I know little about them, because, probably, they were people shocked by the revolution, afraid of their neighbors, that is, us, working people. Probably, if I now had to play a lonely woman, frightened by the revolution, I would first of all imagine the pale faces of my neighbors, unhealthy thinness, black clothes, quiet shuffling steps, hidden fear, a desire to be invisible, that is, almost not be for others.
