The book of Daniil Andreev (1906 - 1959) was compiled by selected poems and poems, for the first time widely representing his work to the reader. Using original mythological and romantic images, the poet passionately reflects on the ways of Russia, on the tragic events of his native history. The poem *Leningrad Apocalypse*, where fantastic visions coexist with concrete experiences, tells about episodes of the defense of Leningrad. The poems *The Death of Grozny* and *Rukh* tell about the disturbing moments of Russian history. In the poems and lyrical cycles of the book, a poetically peculiar and tragic attitude arises, in which tragedy is combined with high hopes, with aspiration for goodness and light.
