Viktor Alexandrovich Sosnora was born on April 28, 1936 in Alupka, his father was an acrobat-equilibrist of the Leningrad circus. The war found Sosnora in Leningrad, from where he left at the beginning of the blockade. He lived in the Kuban, fought in a partisan detachment. After the war, he returned to Leningrad, worked as an electrical mechanic at the Nevsky Machine-Building Plant and at the same time studied at the correspondence department of the Leningrad State University (Faculty of Philology). In 1958, Sosnora's first poem was published, and in 1962 a collection of poems `January Downpour` with a preface by N. Aseev (Sosnora dedicated his next collection `Triptych`, 1965 to him).
