Of course, this interest in the works of the English prose writer was also promoted by large-circulation editions of his novels, which followed one after another. But the main thing, after all, is the very essence of his human books filled with movement and thought.
The painful questions and problems that A. Cronin posed and tried to resolve in his novels have not become obsolete, and his style has not become alien to us - the soundly unhurried style of a convinced realist.
The events that took place many years ago in bourgeois English society still excite the reader. This happens because the heroes of A. Cronin's books are thinking, honest people who, even in difficult circumstances of capitalist reality, strive to preserve dignity and honor, strive to benefit the oppressed, exploited part of society.
