The monograph of the Doctor of Historical Sciences R.G. Skrynnikov is devoted to the turning point in Russian history, which prepared the `distemper`. Careful criticism of the sources allows the author to reveal the mechanism of enslavement of the peasants and recreate the political collisions that accompanied the birth of the serf regime.
