During the recent Pushkin jubilee, a whole series of mysterious murders take place in St. Petersburg. As the hero of the novel, conspiracy theorist Slava Pimenov, finds out, the struggle is for papers that once belonged to A.S. Pushkin. In the old Masonic documents, which the poet called `Philosophical Tables`, the fate of Russia is calculated for many years ahead, troubles, regicides and revolutions are predicted. Slava believes that because of these papers, Pushkin was killed in a duel. `Philosophical tables` have not lost their significance today. Before the Pushkin anniversary, on the same day, four corpses were found in the city at once...
