The first joint work of S. Koldunov and M. Yakhontova was the story "Signal of Noon" (1957). The historical novel "Ryazan Gems" - the second common work of writers - is dedicated to that period of our history, when there was an intensified struggle between the progressive Peter's traditions and the reaction of Peter's successors. The protagonist of the novel Spoloshin, a nugget inventor, made an attempt to fly into the sky for the first time. The victory of the mind over the dark forces of ignorance and obscurantism, inexhaustible optimism, the courage of the Russian people make up the pathos of the novel.
