From a comment by KG Grikman: `The book `The Pilgrim's Progress` needs no recommendation. It belongs to the well-known Christian classics and has been translated into many languages, being one of the most widely distributed books after the Bible`. The book constituted a whole era in spiritual and moral literature. Now it has been translated into 75 languages. A. S. Pushkin was so imbued with this work that he wrote a beautiful poem `The Wanderer`.
John Bunyan (1628-1688), English writer, Protestant preacher. The famous essay "The Pilgrim's Progress" was written in prison, in which Bunyan ended up for secret sermons. This is the only book of its kind that describes in its entirety the path of man's search for God, his doubts, repentance and the process of spiritual growth. Bunyan's writing describes various instances of earthly life as means or obstacles to spiritual development. The events are transmitted in the form of a retelling by a person of his dream, which makes it possible to vividly, colorfully and entertainingly describe the spiritual processes of the soul and the spiritual world, invisible to the human eye.
