Why did Stalin decide to declare himself a sophisticated dialectician? Why did he support throughout his life (and the further, the more) not the best scientists of the country, but ignorant swindlers and rogues who cynically promised him mountains of gold? What did Stalin's activities bring to the country? These issues are analyzed in detail by the author of the book, using examples from various disciplines to show the degree of destruction of Soviet science by Stalin (often bending his line contrary to the opinion of even his closest associates). The book is based on the study of archival materials, interviews of a large number of leading experts, half a century of study of materials of discussions that took place in the USSR in 1920-1950.
