"The Possibility of the Island" is a new novel by the author of the world bestsellers "Elementary Particles" and "Platform". This book is primarily about love. Houellebecq himself, who received the Interalier Prize for it (2005), considers it the best of all he has written. Declaring in an interview that he is "not a storyteller", Houellebecq, nevertheless, tells here, in his characteristic ironic manner, a lot of non-trivial stories intertwined into an exciting plot: about totalitarian sects, about show business and about the fate of distant descendants of mankind, on which our current emotions and actions are projected.
