Boris Andreevich Pilnyak (1894–1938) is a famous Russian writer of the 20–30s of the 20th century, the founder of one of the avant-garde movements in literature. During the years of repression he was shot. The proposed Collected Works of the writer is the first, after decades of ban, multi-volume edition of his legacy, which includes basically all of the author’s works restored from deletions and distortions. The third volume of the Collected Works includes the stories “Zavolochye”, “Big Heart”, “The Chinese Tale”, “The Chinese Fate of Man”, “The Roots of the Japanese Sun” and short stories.
