The book offered to readers describes the holidays celebrated from ancient times to the present day in the territory occupied by modern Slavs. Both church and traditional folk holidays are included, as well as legends, rituals, signs, sayings and other forms of folk art related to them. The encyclopedia consists of two sections. The first section contains non-passing church holidays, i.e. always celebrated at the same time. The articles in this section are grouped by seasons, inside them - by months, where the descriptions of the corresponding holidays are given by numbers. The second section is devoted to transitional (church holidays, the dates of which are determined by Easter day for a given year) and multi-day Orthodox holidays, such as Christmas time, Maslenitsa, Easter, etc. Holiday dates in both sections are indicated according to the old and new styles.
