In 1989, the 500th anniversary of the unique monument of Russian culture - the Annunciation Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. It was erected at the end of the 15th century as the home church of the Grand Duke's Palace. It acquired its modern appearance as a nine-domed cathedral in the middle of the 16th century. The murals of the middle of the 16th century have been preserved in the cathedral. The treasure of the cathedral is its iconostasis of the turn of the XIV - XV centuries. Over time, the Annunciation Cathedral becomes a repository of outstanding works of ancient Russian easel painting. Gradually, a collection of rare works of applied art was formed here. The authors recreate the history of the creation of the monument, evaluate its significance in the history of Russian culture, characterize the features of architecture and wall painting, trace the stages of the interior, describe the most interesting works stored in the cathedral.
