More info

The historical novel of the Argentinean writer Enrique Larret "Glory of Don Ramiro" was created in the spirit of psychological impressionism. It reproduces a picture of the life of Spain at the end of the 16th century, the era of Philip II. In it, Larreta not only resurrects the events and heroes of the era, but also reproduces the whole situation and atmosphere in which they developed, the distinctive features and details of the life of two worlds: the colorful and cheerful Moorish world, on the one hand, and the gloomy, prim, monastic-Catholic - with another. The author depicts the movement of the Moriscos (baptized Moors) making an attempt to overthrow the Spanish oppression, as well as the struggle of part of the ancient feudal nobility against the regime of Philip II, culminating in an armed uprising. ______________________________________________ Very good preservation, b/w illustrations
