Through the fault of Tamara's friend, the artist Rita Orlova is forced to spend the whole day under the scorching sun on a desert island, where she creates a beautiful landscape. Tamara, feeling guilty, offers to compensate for moral damage by buying a painting from her for a lot of money. However, Orlova considers her creation unsuccessful and does not understand why she needed it. Other actions of a friend are also bewildering: she sheltered a woman about whom she does not know anything, not even her last name. And she fled to Moscow, and soon her body was found in a ditch. This is no longer strange, but scary, and Rita looks at an old acquaintance in a new way....
