A collection of detective and crime novels, novellas and short stories by cult author Cornel Woolrich, published by him under the pseudonym "William Irish".

Woolrich has been called the "Edgar Poe of the twentieth century" for his close attention to the dark side of the human soul. He created not just crime novels, he was a subtle psychologist and a master of literary style.

Reluctant Assassin includes the novel "Waltz Into the Dark", adapted by François Truffaut, a great Woolrich fan, as "Mississippi Siren", starring Catherine Deneuve and Jean-Paul Belmondo.

In addition, the book contains a collection of short stories, among which - the most famous story by Woolrich, "Rear Window", filmed by Alfred Hitchcock. The rest of the stories - Post Mortem, Exactly at three o'clock, Kill - so immediately, Killer involuntarily.
