The book by the South Korean philologist-Russianist is dedicated to the work of one of the brightest personalities in the history of Russian humanities, the founder of the Tartu-Moscow semiotic school Yu.M.Lotman. Analyzing the main aspects of the concepts of the scientist, the author traces the path of Lotman's research thought, the formation of a new structuralist methodology and semiotic theory. The author considers the creative heritage of Lotman as an integral semantic space, a kind of "semiosphere", revealing the connection between the ideas of the scientist and his views on the literary and artistic texts of Pushkin, Gogol, Dostoevsky, the Russian avant-garde, etc.
