More info

A significant part of the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War seemed to have died twice: they were not buried and remained lying where they were killed. Until the 1980s, the Soviet state did not recognize the existence of these dead souls, and ordinary citizens were engaged in the reburial of the fallen - despite the fact that their activities were prohibited. Only those who are commonly called search engines today understood that the soldiers forgotten by all needed care and memory from the living: so they could return to our world as heroes, and not as disembodied ghosts. The dead don't bury the dead. This work had to be undertaken by quite specific people, and their memory is no less important than the memory of veterans and other witnesses of the war. This publication is a one-of-a-kind collection of oral memoirs of those who devoted their entire lives to the search for and reburial of Soviet soldiers.
