Wright, Austin Tappan (08/20/1883 - 09/18/1931) was an American writer. Born August 20, 1883 in Hanover (New Hampshire), graduated from the law faculty of Harvard University in Cambridge (Massachusetts). Lecturer in law - first at Berkeley and then at the University of Pennsylvania, a brilliant young scholar and no less brilliant conversationalist.

Wright entered the history of SF (as well as American literature in general) with a single book. Probably, only a very few guessed what the famous jurist devotes his leisure time to, from early youth until the last days he composed fragments about an imaginary utopian island located in Antarctica, and their fruit turned out to be a novel almost twice as long as War and Peace. ”- so that when preparing the manuscript for publication, Wright's widow and daughter, adapting the book to the reader's usual scale, decided to cut the text in half. Only a part of the iceberg has been published, Icelandia (1942; Russian 1996 - Islanders, vols. 1–3).
