The author of the book Hero of the Soviet Union, Captain 1st Rank Ivan Vasilyevich Travkin, in his memoirs talks about the exploits of Soviet submariners. From the first to the last day of the Great Patriotic War, he fought in the Baltic, commanding the submarine "Shch-303" and then "K-52". The Guards "Shch-303" and the Red Banner "K-52" sent 12 military transports and two enemy warships to the seabed.
