The full title looks like this: “The life of Artemy Ararat, a native of the village of Vagharshapat near Mount Ararat, and the adventures that happened to him from infancy to adulthood; his removal from his fatherland to Georgia, from there to Russia, then to Persia and finally returning back to Russia through the Caspian Sea, with a description of many curious objects located in his area and other places in Persia, with the addition of six engraved prints depicting views of Persian cities " Written and translated by him from Armenian to Russian.
The memoirs of Artemy of Ararat (Harutyun Bogdanov of Ararat 1774-after 1827) attracted the attention of the reading public and scientific circles immediately after their first publication in 1813 and retain their value as a historical and ethnographic source to this day. The book is illustrated with etchings of that time and, in addition to the text of the monument, includes a biographical sketch about the unusual and mysterious fate of the author and a scientific commentary on the text. Information about the author of these notes is scant, and his figure remains mysterious in many respects; for example, there is no information about the fate of Artemy after 1827 or where and when he ended his life. He described his adventurous life while already in Russia and published it in 1813; a little later the book was translated into German and English.
