The latest research in the field of archaeology, numismatics and epigraphy has confirmed the authenticity of references in Arab-Persian literature to the mysterious Russian Khaganate, which for a long time was wrongfully identified with the Khazar Khaganate. The main ethnic group of this military-commercial state were the Sarmato-Alans who settled in the upper reaches of the Donets and Don, who had a significant influence on the Slavic tribes and the formation of the Old Russian state. It was the lands of the Russian Kaganate that, after its death, entered the core of Kievan Rus, leaving the Slavs with the name “Rus”. The book convincingly refutes the Khazar-Norman concept about the origin and development of Rus', rooted in history, extending Russian history into the depths of centuries.
