The Hermitage, which possesses the richest collection of Western European engraved portraits, for the first time acquaints the public with images of famous artists within the framework of the three most striking centuries in the evolution of this genre. The selection of portraits was determined by the artistic quality of the print, the originality of the talent and personality of the represented artist. Most of the engravings, including rarities, are exhibited within the walls of the museum for the first time.

The publication is intended both for connoisseurs and connoisseurs of engraving, and for a wide range of viewers.
