Vasily Lebedev-Kumach - the author of the second anthem of the USSR "Broad is my native country" - wrote in the first period of his work in the spirit of the Silver Age. But time grinded talents - Lebedev-Kumach believed in the newly established order, becoming the author of positive songs "How many good girls ...", "Captain, captain, smile ...", "Temper up!" These songs have become symbols of the era, they are still sung thanks to the sincerity and genuineness of feelings. In this book, for the first time, not only the well-known and beloved by many songs, the poet’s military poems, but also early poems were published, which for many years lay in the author’s desk next to a letter from the first teacher and waited for the hour when they were destined to be published.
