The Ottoman Empire in 1914, losing its greatness, torn apart by wars and civil strife: it seems that everyone here is at war with everyone. And the young art historian Pasha Lukyanov is sent into this inferno. He must find and deliver to Russia an ancient icon, which, according to legend, was painted by the Evangelist Luke. It is not enough to say that the task is not easy, it is deadly, especially since both Vatican agents and Turkish counterintelligence are hunting for the icon. Several times Pasha miraculously escapes a painful death, but he gets the icon. Only now does he understand what an amazing - in the truest sense of the word - relic is in his hands. Under the layers of paint lies an ancient image that can change the usual idea of the course of history, and thus influence the fate of the world.
