Igor Golomshtok is a well-known Soviet and English art critic, the author of many publications, his most famous book "Totalitarian Art" (first published in English in 1990), a close friend of Andrei Sinyavsky and his co-author of the first Soviet monograph on Picasso. At the Sinyavsky-Daniel trial, he was sentenced to six months of forced labor for refusing to testify. In 1972 he emigrated to the UK. For a long time he was an employee of the BBC and Radio Liberty, taught at the universities of St. Andrews, Essex, Oxford.
