Igor Golomshtok is a well-known Soviet and English art critic, the author of many publications, his most famous book "Totalitarian Art" (first published in English in 1990), a close friend of Andrei Sinyavsky and his co-author of the first Soviet monograph on Picasso. At the Sinyavsky-Daniel trial, he was sentenced to six months of forced labor for refusing to testify. In 1972 he emigrated to the UK. For a long time he was an employee of the BBC and Radio Liberty, taught at the universities of St. Andrews, Essex, Oxford. Lives in London. “Familiar with everyone, friends with many and helped many, Golomshtok managed throughout his life to maintain the position of a “corner tenant”, a person who does not participate in the race, does not sing in the choir.
