More info

For more than twelve years, the Borodino State Military Historical Museum Reserve (GBVIMZ) has been working on the creation of a reference and information system (SIS) "Participants of the Battle of Borodino". In the course of this work, the Russian State Military Historical Archive (RGVIA) in fund 489 managed to find 2169 official lists of generals and officers who participated in the Battle of Borodino. The data from the forms found in the archive were transferred using a personal computer to electronic media, which served as the basis for the reference and information subsystem (SIS) "Russian generals and officers - participants in the Battle of Borodino" *. In total, this subsystem contains information on 2169 generals and officers who participated in the Battle of Borodino, in addition, it includes information from the official lists on 991 officers who did not participate in the Battle of Borodino, but served in regular military units of the 1st and 2nd Western armies in 1812. In 1995-1996. work was underway to create the next SIP on electronic media - "Russian generals and officers awarded for participation in the battle of Borodino"1. The basis for its creation was the award documents of 2104 officers and generals, stored in the RGVIA in the funds of the Office of the Minister of War, the Headquarters of the Separate Guards Corps and the Life Guards. Moscow regiment 2. This SIP significantly complements the first SIP “Russian generals and officers - participants in the Battle of Borodino”, since in the formulary lists, unlike award lists, there is no description of the differences for which generals and officers received awards. In addition, thanks to the SIP “Russian generals and officers - participants in the battle of Borodino”, the SIS was replenished with many names of Russian officers who participated in the battle, whose forms we could not find among the 489 official lists of the RGVIA fund. For the second year, work has been carried out by the scientific information department to create, within the framework of the SIS "Participants of the Battle of Borodino", the third SIP "Russian soldiers - participants in the Battle of Borodino", which is created according to a methodology similar to the methodology of the SIS "Russian generals and officers - participants in the Battle of Borodino", based on data from the official lists of non-commissioned officers.
