Unlike other works devoted to the history of the rebellion of General Kornilov and its liquidation in August 1917, in this book the author focuses on the training of the fighting forces of the Kornilov counter-revolution in the army. He gives interesting information about the creation of shock units, "death battalions", national formations, about the attempts of the Kornilovites to use these forces against revolutionary workers and soldiers, talks about the counter-revolutionary activities of the Headquarters, the officers' union, the unions of the Cossack troops and the St. George Knights, secret organizations of the bourgeoisie. Revealing the all-Russian scale of the Kornilov conspiracy, its close connection with the Kerenshchina, the author at the same time shows the historical inevitability of the collapse of this cadet-general adventure. A large place in the book is devoted to Lenin's characterization of the Kornilov region and the tactics of combating it.
