The novel “The Danube Pilot” was published after the author’s death in 1908. It is almost for the Russian reader. unknown, as it was published in small editions in 1909 and 1958.
“The Danube Pilot” belongs to a series of travel novels. The main character of the book descends the great international river Danube by boat from the upper reaches to the very mouth and experiences dangerous adventures along the way. This is one of the few works of Jules Verne in the detective genre, but even here the writer managed to show the high skill of the novelist.
