The opening pages constitute a condensed version of the unfinished novel. The rest - are fragments of designs that Ray Bradbury beat. Before us is twenty-five-year-old Bradbury. This is the time when he met his future wife Margaret McClure and struck up a correspondence with Don Congdon, the young editor. After Bradbury and Maggie's marriage, Congdon became Bradbury's agent.
