Its purpose is to introduce previously unknown materials on Russian history, especially the history of the 20th century, into scientific and public circulation. The reader is offered numerous eyewitness accounts, diaries, memoirs, notes, epistolary heritage of figures of national culture and public life from Soviet and foreign archives, private collections, family collections. The vast majority of materials are commented in detail, which allows the reader to be given a large amount of additional information, often scattered through hard-to-reach sources, to introduce documents into the context of time. Articles and studies based on rich archival material interpret unknown or little-studied episodes of Russian history of our century.
