This book is for schoolchildren, students, teachers, for all students of the German language. The reader will find in it a brief but fairly complete (systematic) and largely unconventional description of prepositions (meaning, management and use in all areas of speech) taking into account the latest achievements of domestic and foreign linguistics and methodology. For the first time in the manual, prepositions are presented in a communicative aspect using original language material from Germany and Austria. The theoretical and didactic materials of this manual can be successfully used both in independent study of the modern German language and in classroom lessons under the guidance of a teacher/instructor. The manual includes grammatical and semantic characteristics of prepositions, their classification in terms of their control and meaning, Russian correspondences, creative communicative tasks and exercises, an index of prepositions, tests for self-testing of acquired knowledge, a list of common adjectives/adverbs and verbs with their prepositional control and examples of their use in modern German, keys to the most difficult tasks in the manual.
