Every woman is required to wear a counter bracelet, and if the limit is exceeded, the violator will receive an electric shock. Soon women are deprived of the right to work. Girls are no longer taught to read and write in schools. Their place is now at the hearth, where they must silently obey men. The same fate awaits Dr. Jean McClellan, who must now leave her scientific career, laboratory, important experiments. But the case will force her to fight for the return of the voice - her own, her daughter and all other women.
