The legacy of Kerouac is published in our country for the first time in such a full volume. This volume includes two novels: "Underground" - the love story of the writer Leo Perspier (whose prototype is Kerouac himself) and the Negro girl Mardu, one of the writer's most daring experiments in the field of prose technique - and "Angels of Loneliness" - a work that occupies a special place in the work of Kerouac. Plotally continuing the early works of the writer, primarily the famous "Dharma Tramps", "Angels of Solitude", at the same time, reflect the transition from the spirit of anarchic rebellion, characteristic of previous novels, to disappointment in former ideals and the search for new ones; the desire for the Road is replaced by a desire for stability, constant travels in the company of beatnik friends end in a return to the hearth. The novel thus became a kind of boundary between the early and late periods of Kerouac's work.
