The book introduces the reader to the life and work of the Silver Age poetess Elizaveta Ivanovna Dmitrieva (Vasilieva), better known by the name Cheburina de Gabriak. For the first time, her poetic heritage, as well as translations and plays, are presented in full. Dmitrieva spent the summer of 1909 in Koktebel, at Voloshin’s dacha, where the joint idea of literary hoax was born, a sonorous pseudonym and a literary mask of a mysterious Catholic beauty were invented. Since 1909, Cherubina de Gabriak's poems have been published in the Apollo magazine, her success is dizzying and undoubted, her work is highly appreciated by I. Annensky and Vyach. Ivanova. Cherubina's exposure took place at the end of 1909: M. Kuzmin learned the truth, having found out Dmitrieva's phone number. Thus, at the end of 1910, another selection of Cherubina’s poems appeared in Apollo, with the final poem “Meeting,” signed with the poetess’s real name. The revelation turned into a severe creative crisis for Dmitrieva: after the break with Gumilyov and Voloshin and the scandalous duel between the two poets, Dmitrieva fell silent for a long time.
