The reference book covers the majority of nosological forms and syndromes of nervous and mental diseases. For ease of reference, they are listed alphabetically. When describing each form, its definition, the most characteristic signs (symptoms) of the disease, essential elements of etiology and pathogenesis are given. Particular attention is paid to the treatment and prevention of diseases with specific instructions on the methods of their implementation. Special sections are devoted to describing the clinic of nervous and mental disorders in various lesions of internal organs: blood, hematopoietic organs, lungs, endocrine glands, liver, kidneys, heart and blood vessels, acute infections, food poisoning, general poisoning. A special chapter deals with the organization of psycho-neurological assistance to the population, special methods of care and treatment of the mentally ill, and issues of expertise. The section "Research Methods" describes the most accepted and proven methods of functional diagnostics and a number of special methods - electroencephalography, electromyography, chronaximetry. The main methods of ophthalmological, otoneurological, X-ray studies, methods of research of the autonomic nervous system, cerebrospinal fluid are given. These descriptions are accompanied by indications of the clinical interpretation of the findings. The reference book is concluded with the main medicinal prescriptions used in neuropathology in psychiatry; more than 500 prescriptions are presented with indication of the maximum daily doses, in some cases - the timing and method of course treatment.
