This volume of the "Literary Archive" for the first time brings together all the known and accessible letters of A. F. Pisemsky. The publication was based on documents stored in the Manuscript Department of the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Pushkin House). They are accompanied by letters found in the Institute of Books, Documents and Letters of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the Archives of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the Manuscript Department of the Leningrad State Public Library, the Central Library of Russian Drama in Leningrad, the Manuscript Department of the State Public Library of the USSR. V. I. Lenin, the State Literary Museum, the State Theater Museum. A. A. Bakhrushin, the Moscow Historical Museum, the Central Historical Archive (Moscow and Leningrad branches), the Vladimir Provincial Archive, the Ivanovo Regional Archival Administration and the Middle Volga Regional Archival Administration in Kuibyshev. Outside the volume, for reasons beyond the control of the editor, only a bunch of 56 letters to I. S. Turgenev 1855-1879, marked in the catalog of the Parisian Viardot archive (A. Mazon, Manuscrits parisiens d'Ivan Tourguéneff, P. 1930) , p. 108).
