The first volume of the collection contains memoirs covering the period of the poet's early childhood, the Lyceum years, the short St. Petersburg period between the Lyceum and exile, and the years of exile. The return from the Mikhailovsky exile completes the materials of the first volume.

The second volume contains the memoirs of contemporaries about Pushkin, covering 1826-1837, when, after returning from exile, the poet began the difficult path of overcoming the pressure of censorship, the influence of the tsar, the struggle for creative and personal independence. The volume ends with memoirs and documents about the duel, revealing the true culprits of the death of the poet.
