This publication introduces readers to the work of the legendary Japanese poet and prose writer Ihara Saikaku (1642-1693). From the richest creative heritage of the author, two unconditional masterpieces belonging to the genre of `koseko-mono` - `tales of love` - `Five women who surrendered to love` (1686) and `The story of the love affairs of a lonely woman` (1686) were chosen, the translations of which made by such authoritative masters as E.M. Pinus and V.N. Markova. The design of the book features screensavers from one of the first Japanese editions. Intended for the widest readership.
