The book of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor N.A.Troitsky is dedicated to the outstanding Russian military and statesman, representative of one of the ancient and brilliant families of the Russian Empire, His Serene Highness Prince Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev-Kutuzov-Smolensky.
The hero of all Russian-Turkish wars of the second half of the 18th - early 19th centuries, named the Savior of the Fatherland during the Patriotic War of 1812, Field Marshal General, holder of all Russian orders, he earned unfading fame not only in the military, but also in civil and diplomatic fields.
The book, however, presents Kutuzov not from the exclusively panegyric positions that have been established in recent decades. The work of N.A. Troitsky is one of the first experiments in our days to describe the life of M.I. Kutuzov without embellishment, omissions and fictions, which many previous, mostly Soviet-Stalinist, completely apologetic biographies of the field marshal sinned. Based on the totality of data about Kutuzov (including `inconvenient` facts, events, documents), the author aims to show the field marshal respectfully and critically, without historical stilts, and to determine his true scale as a historical person.
The book about M.I.Kutuzov, along with a number of others, continues the series called `Forgotten and Unknown Russia`, which is published by the `Tsentrpoligraf` publishing house. Like the entire series, it is intended for a wide range of readers interested in Russian history, as well as for statesmen and public and political figures, scientists involved in the formation of new spiritual values of the resurgent Russia. About all this and not only in the book by Field Marshal Kutuzov. Myths and facts (N. A. Troitsky)
