The novel “The Idiot” (1868) was conceived and written by Dostoevsky in Switzerland, the homeland of the great educator Rousseau, and therefore it is appropriate to recall his contemporary Voltaire, the author of “The Simple-minded,” a book that was one of the first attempts to show the “ideal man” " in this imperfect world.
