The first volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Sartakov includes short stories and the story “Stone Foundation,” representing the early period of his work. The author focuses on the people of the harsh Siberian region, strong, courageous, in love with their work.

In an atmosphere of struggle, acute psychological conflicts, the formation of the character of its central hero takes place - the young worker Kostya Barbin, a river sailor who later became a writer.
