The history of Crimea is widely reflected in the works of nameless folk poets and folklore. The very air of Crimea, its picturesque mountains, its coastal cliffs, its groves, vineyards breathe poetry, evoke legends, fairy tales, songs. This book contains only a part of the Crimean legends and traditions, wonderful in their simplicity and inner truthfulness. There is a lot of fantasy in these works, sometimes they involve sorcerers and witches, supernatural forces... But the main character in them is the people, the working people with their courage, generosity, nobility. Loyalty to the native country and native people, maiden purity and unchanging love are glorified in legends about the distant and near past of Crimea.
