The authors of the collection "Keys of Narrative" offer a fundamentally new approach to the literary text, believing that in addition to the well-known provisions of the "Linguistics of the Text", the text, in principle, has its own special "Grammar". The grammar of the text is described through categories peculiar only to it, manifested in units that have their own plan of expression and plan of content. For example, such categories are the category of repetition, antithesis-repetition, the introduction of intertextual fragments. The book deals with the previously unexplored category of "keys" of the text, i.e. elements, as if opening the reader's eyes to non-obvious meanings - just as through a random object (hairpin, button), the detective suddenly discovers the whole situation as a whole. These elements can have different linguistic appearances - from service words to fragments of a higher level. The book presents a general theory of "keys", as well as analyzes of texts - as a rule, texts of the late period of Russian classical literature: Gogol. Pushkin, Lermontov, Mandelstam and Brodsky and others.
